Chalkboard Wall Reveal + Goodbye // Summer 2014 Project List

I actually don't think I've ever shared our chalkboard wall with you guys.  We've had it for about a year and a half and during most of that time I haven't been a huge fan.  I wanted to love it but at the end of the day my feelings on it can best be described as meh...  You know that feeling right?

Sorry for the abundance of real life that we have going on in this picture (terrible quality/messy arse room).  Quite frankly I'm not even sure how much I care that you see everything like this (fingers crossed it just makes future after pictures look 10 times better!)  The only thing I actually like is the quote, which is a line from the song played during our first dance (DMB Steady as we go), but it's still all wrong.

That top right shelve is even bare from using its contents to style other areas.  I've been so passive about this wall and have taken that as the sign that its.gots.ta.GO!  Stat!  I say stat but in all reality it will probably take me a couple of weeks to do it.  I'm realizing that I basically suck at timelines I set for house projects.  However, I did decided to make this little list of summer projects for us.

I actually don't think this is that crazy.  Sure that will probably change but right now I feel good that we can get these things done this summer.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  Hopefully I don't get too side tracked with other projects.  Oh, and I also have a book case that I want to refinish...bonus, it's also the first piece of furniture I painted nearly 15 years ago.  Crazy!  And my mom even worked on it years before that!  I'll save that for another day,  that beaut deserves it's own post, pastel glory and all!

Happy Monday Friends!  Did you have a good Weekend?  Do you have a summer project list?

  1. I appreciate your candid comments about the wall. Most people I know rave about theirs but I've never been able to get on board. I don't think it's too crazy of a list! But, I'd try tackling it all myself! LOL

  2. I'm so excited to see what comes! I'm with you on the blackboard wall. I've never had one but rarely do I see one that I like. I dont like my handwriting enough to use it and if using real chalk, the dust would drive me nuts. Maybe if I had kids!

We have a huge list for selling and theres a lot of touching up ceiling paint from my overzealous painting and touching up trim. Ack!! I think I'd rather paint the ten rooms you have on your list than do trim ;p

    1. I think that's part of why I'm not loving it, I hate my handwriting! That and the dust really is annoying! Good lucky with your trim! I always have to go back and make corrections, especially on the ceiling!

  3. I can't wait to see the change up! I'm on the fence about chalkboard walls...sometimes I love, sometimes I'm not a fan. I do loooove that quote (and some DMB)!

I don't have a summer to-do list, but I sure do know there is a running to-do list I've had in my head for entirely too long without acting on it. Hopefully my job slows down sometime in this century so I can hop to it! :)

    1. I'll be sure to share it! We love Dave too (old stuff though, some of the new songs aren't great)! I hope your job slows down soon!

  6. I'm excited to see what you come up with. I really like the chalkboard, but totally know what it's like to feel "meh" about something.

    1. I wanted to like and tried to for so long but it just never happened! I'm thinking of taking Friday off to do some house stuff and this wall would be one of things I tackle :)

  7. I actually really like the wall, but if it doesn't do it for you then I totally get it. Good luck working through you to-do list. Summer projects mean less work in the fall. I don't know if that's a thing, I kinda just made that up!
