Nifty Thrifty

Holy geez!  My apologies, I’ve been away for an entire week with no real excuse, other than, I’ve been crazy tired. *yawn*
So, here’s the scoop.  A co-worker recently spilled the beans about an awesome thrift store that was right down the road from our office.  She said it gets crazy and on Monday they run 25% off everything in the store.  Needless to say, I was still not prepared for the madness, like zero park spots left madness.  So I parked my car (the legality of the spot is questionable) and trotted on in, sans shopping cart.
I wasn’t interested in clothes, remember this, so I headed straight over to the furniture/books/home goods side of the store. This was the first thing I picked up.  I’m in love with the idea of putting little knick-knacks inside from travels.  I’ve also even debated painting it gold and then hanging our last initial in front of it.  I’m not entirely sold on changing it though since its finish is still in pretty good shape.  Oh yeah, it was less than $2!

Down the next aisle I went, where I spied with my little eye, one yellow candle votive.  I’m thinking of using this in the kitchen.  Until we’re done with that project it’s going to live here, on the corner of our coffee station.  Price?  Less than $0.50!

And I’m saving my favorite for last.  I can’t even begin to say how excited I am about this folded piece of metal.  I’ve been on the hunt for one of those two drawer library-esque index card holders without a real home for it in mind.  Instead I found something with a similar feel, but will be totally functional as a recipe card box in our future kitchen.  I’ve been looking around Etsy the past few days for some recipes cards and I think I have our picked out.  I’ll update that one later.  This guy was also less than $0.50!

That’s right, I left spending less than $3!  I couldn’t believe it!  Say, today is Monday.  Maybe I’ll be making another trip on my lunch!
